Woodworm and Timber Treatment
Flight holes and frass can remain after historic activity, so their presence does not by itself prove that an infestation is active. The inspection considers accessible evidence, timber condition, moisture and ventilation before treatment is specified.
Where timber has lost strength, the repair method depends on its location, extent and structural role. Opening-up or input from a structural engineer may be needed before a repair design and quotation can be confirmed.
Treatment is not the first assumption
A useful scope records the evidence for current activity, the accessible treatment area and any finishes or insulation that restrict access. Moisture sources and ventilation should be addressed where they are contributing to timber deterioration.
Biocidal treatment, local timber repair or replacement are different responses. Parkside specifies only the work supported by the inspection and identifies where concealed timber cannot be assessed without opening-up.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between wet rot and dry rot?
Both are moisture-related fungal decay. Wet rot generally remains associated with persistently damp timber, while dry rot can spread through a building under suitable conditions. Identification, moisture control and the extent of damage determine the response.
