Managing water and moisture

Bathrooms generate water vapour and place finishes under regular wetting. The installation should combine suitable substrates, waterproofing in wet zones, sound plumbing details and effective extraction rather than relying on grout and sealant alone.

Bathroom waterproofing

Small movements, failed seals and incomplete waterproofing can allow water behind tiled finishes. We use a layered waterproofing approach designed to reduce that risk:

  • Moisture-Resistant Backer Boards: In wet zones we use suitable tile backer boards selected for the system and manufacturer requirements.
  • Waterproofing systems: Membranes, tapes, primers and details are installed to the selected system manufacturer's instructions.
  • Adhesives and grout: Products are selected to suit the tile, substrate, movement and wet-area conditions.
  • Mechanical extraction: Ventilation is selected with reference to the room, duct route, applicable requirements and manufacturer guidance.

Wetrooms and bathroom suites

The agreed work can cover a compact en-suite, bathroom replacement or wetroom conversion:

Shower Wetroom Floors

Forming suitable falls and drainage details where the existing structure and design allow.

Plumbing Modifications

Re-routing internal copper feeds, concealed shower valves, and installing wall-hung vanity frameworks.

Tiling & Stonework

Porcelain, stone or other selected finishes installed to the agreed specification.

Thermal Improvements

Installing suitable under-tile heating and insulation details where specified to improve comfort and reduce cold-surface risk.

The Importance of Continuous Ventilation

Basic bathroom fans often run only with the light and stop before moisture has cleared. Where appropriate, we can specify continuous low-power extract fans that respond automatically to rising humidity and help reduce conditions that support mould growth.

Useful answers

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer wetroom installations?

Yes, we construct wetroom drainage slopes, liquid membranes, thermostatic showers, and high-performance tiling.

What is bathroom tanking and when is it needed?

Tanking is a waterproofing layer behind tiled finishes. The correct system and extent depend on the wet area, substrate and product manufacturer's installation requirements.
