Coordinated building refurbishment

Parkside Construction can coordinate agreed repair and finishing work from a single-room refurbishment to a wider renovation. The scope is prepared after the property, access, design information and any required approvals have been reviewed.

Materials for older buildings

Many traditional solid-wall buildings manage moisture differently from modern cavity construction. Existing materials, exposure and the source of moisture should be understood before selecting plaster, render, insulation or paint. A project may include:

  • Compatible plaster or render: Materials selected for the wall construction, condition and agreed finish.
  • Masonry repairs: Repointing or local repairs using a mortar appropriate to the existing masonry and exposure.
  • Timber repairs: Repair or replacement after the moisture source and structural requirements have been established.
  • Insulation and drylining: Details reviewed for condensation risk, continuity and the existing building fabric.

Our Renovation & Refurbishment Capabilities

Depending on the written quotation, refurbishment work can include:

Damp-Safe Plastering

Plaster repair, skimming, partitions, plasterboard ceilings and suitable drylining details.

Traditional Lime Render

Lime-pointing and lime rendering for solid-walled heritage and listed historic cottages.

Carpentry & Structural Timbers

Repairing sagged floor structures, timber framing, ceiling joists, sash windows, and custom timber work.

Complete Remodellings

Internal layout and finish changes, subject to design, services coordination and any required approvals.

Solving Thermal Bridging During Refurbishment

Insulation continuity and junction details are considered as part of the agreed design. No refurbishment can be described as immune to condensation: ventilation, heating, occupancy, moisture sources and workmanship all affect performance.
