Condensation & Mould Surveys
Persistent mould or condensation can have more than one contributing factor. We inspect agreed accessible areas and consider humidity, surface temperatures, ventilation and relevant building defects before explaining the evidence, limitations and practical next steps.
What the Inspection Can Include
Dew Point Mapping
We compare relative humidity and surface temperatures to identify areas where condensation is likely to form.
Fan Extraction Flow-Rate Testing
We can record kitchen and bathroom extraction rates and compare them with the relevant design guidance and installation requirements.
Thermal Cold Bridging Inspections
Thermal imaging can indicate surface-temperature differences when conditions are suitable. It does not see through walls, and findings are interpreted alongside visual and moisture observations.
Sub-Floor Ventilation Review
Where accessible, we can record visible air bricks, obstructions and signs of poor sub-floor airflow. Concealed voids may need further access or opening-up.
Reducing Recurring Mould by Addressing the Cause
Surface cleaning alone may not prevent mould returning while moisture conditions remain. A useful response considers leaks, rainwater defects, cold surfaces, insulation, heating and ventilation together. Our report records the likely contributing factors and proportionate next steps; it does not diagnose a building remotely or promise a permanent cure.
Condensation & Mould FAQ
What is PIV, and can it eliminate mould?
PIV may help some properties by supplying filtered air and diluting indoor humidity, but it is not suitable for every building or every cause of mould. Existing extract ventilation, loft conditions and moisture sources should be assessed first.
Why does mould grow behind wardrobes on external walls?
External walls are colder. Heavy wooden wardrobes block heated room air from circulating against the wall surface, trapping stagnant, moisture-heavy air behind, which drops below the dew point, creating damp condensates perfect for Aspergillus mould growth.
End the "Lifestyle Condensation" Blame Game
Arrange an evidence-led ventilation and moisture inspection to investigate the likely causes of indoor dampness.
